Success Stories

In October 2006, Rose and Robert Shaw will celebrate their ninth year as
a Parcel Plus center owner. When Robert was asked what made them decide to open a pack and ship center, he laughed and said, “Well, we actually were looking into opening a Hallmark store, but they didn’t like the location we picked out!”

Robert added that the area they lived in was growing fast and the location that they were looking at had already opened a major grocery store with plans for a plaza next to it. After having raised two daughters, Rose wanted to find something to do outside of the home. They both have entrepreneurial spirits, but weren’t sure which route to take.

Divine intervention stepped in. While having coffee with a friend, Rose learned about new Parcel Plus centers being built in and around the Houston area. Right then and there, Rose borrowed the phone at the coffee shop and called to learn more about the centers.

Soon after contacting the Parcel Plus corporate office, then located in Annapolis, MD, build-out began for their very own pack and ship center. Robert vividly remembers signing the contract while at a Houston Astros game with the Parcel Plus General Manager of the Texas region. The Shaw’s are enjoying their business adventure and still believe they were in the right place at the right time to open a Parcel Plus!
